I am so pissed that mike ness changed the song angels wings. That was the best damn song on the CD and now its horrible. They start the song in the middle and omitted the best two parts (welfare mother drink...) (Im not perfect, I know Ive done you wrong...) that shit sucks, and its proboly because he didn't want to offend any of those welfare drunks out there. I AM PISSED. And why isn't Private Hell on the album, Mike said at the hootinanay that that song was written "for the new album," then in a recent interview he said "about 16 songs on the new album" and there is 10! .... 8 years of waiting for disappointment.

yeah, gotta agree. I was looking forward so much to hearing the studio version and then he went and changed the lyrics. They might be good for a poem or something but they ruin a really good rock 'n' roll song. Hopefully it's a big hoax.

why is everyone pissed that there is only 10 songs on the new record? go back and count how many songs were on every other record. nothing has changed. as far as angels wings in concerned, who knows why. these are Mike's babies and no one elses. i wish i stayed long enough at the ventura show to hear them play it but my old lady was nagging me to go. But believe me, i guarantee mike DIDNT change the lyrics because he was affraid of offending anyone. I would never expect him to do that.

I think the new Angel Wings is awesome. Its got great lyrics. You can tell Mike Ness is religious and is straight with God. Thats one thing I appreciate about him. Talks about Angel's Wings Carry me Home (meaning Heaven). I haven't really heard a good verion of the previous angel wings tho. I had a bootleg live copy, but it was crappy recorded I coudlnt tell much about it. I'm sure it rocked too.

I don't like the new version nearly as much as the old. He sang the old one better, and the lyrics were way better. They got to me emotionally more than the new lyrics.
When you comin home dad, I dont know when
the county's gonna take us away again
I dont care about what they say
i'm gonna run away some day
and so on... It felt sadder and more powerful. Oh well at least i still got the old version bootlegs. And anyway I'm more pissed over the ABSENCE OF PRIVATE HELL!!!

i think Mike wanted to make it less of a political and social statement song and more of a song about overcoming adversity and picking yourself up. I think it is one badass song. Faithless and winners and losers are also very similar in message. what an incredible collection of songs. 10 is about all i can handle for one day. this record will change peoples lives for those who will listen.

angels wings reminds me a lot of "bridge over troubled water". for those who are too cool to listen to simon and garfunkle put in the last Johnny cash record and you will see what i mean. angels wings is one hellofa song. I like it better now than how he originally wrote it. when the song starts, and you hear mikes voice, you get tingles. kinda like when i put in WLWHWT for the first time and dear lover rang out. ive listened to the record nonstop for days now.
